The AED Auxiliary Enrichment Device for SU Carbs

6th of November, 2019

The AED or Automatic Enrichment Device is a much larger and more complex device than the AEC Auxiliary Enrichment Carburettor fitted to some HD SU Carb installations.

It is a complete carburettor with its own float bowl, and is activated based on temperature of the incoming air to provide additional rich mixture, until the engine is warmed up working as a fully "automatic choke". Only fitted to the Rover V8, in addition to twin SU carbs.

Not all Rover V8 installations had one of these devices, earlier models just used the traditional choke mechanism on the main SU Carbs.
